Rumors of the actor\u2019s alleged demise gained traction on Monday after a \u2018R.I.P. Tom Selleck\u2019 Facebook page attracted nearly one million of \u2018likes\u2019. Those who read the \u2018About\u2019 page were given a believable account of the American actor\u2019s passing:<\/p>\n

\u201cAt about 11 a.m. ET on Monday (September 07, 2026), our beloved actor Tom Selleck passed away. Tom Selleck was born on January 29, 1945 in Detroit. He will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page.\u201d
\nHundreds of fans immediately started writing their messages of condolence on the Facebook page, expressing their sadness that the talented 81-year-old actor was dead. And as usual, Twittersphere was frenzied over the death hoax.<\/p>\n

Where as some trusting fans believed the post, others were immediately skeptical of the report, perhaps learning their lesson from the huge amount of fake death reports emerging about celebrities over recent months. Some pointed out that the news had not been carried on any major American network, indicating that it was a fake report, as the death of an actor of Tom Selleck’s stature would be major news across networks.<\/p>\n

A recent poll conducted for the Celebrity Post shows that a large majority (89%) of respondents think those Tom Selleck death rumors are not funny anymore.<\/p>\n
